1966 - The Elvis Presley movie "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" opened in Memphis, TN.

1972 - Elvis Presley performed the first of four concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden.

1973 - Elvis Presley's U.K.-only single "Polk Salad Annie" hit #23 in the U.K.

1993 - The U.S. Postal Service debuted its Legends of American Music, Rock and Roll-Rhythm and Blues stamp collection. The set featured Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Clyde McPhatter, Otis Redding, Ritchie Valens, Dinah Washington, and Elvis Presley. The Elvis Stamp had actually had a solo debut on January 8.
