1956 - RCA Victor, by this day, had received 856,327 advance orders for "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley.

1957 - Elvis Presley's album "Loving You" hit #1 in the U.S.

1963 - Recording began on the soundtrack for the Elvis Presley movie "Kissin' Cousins." Only the instrumental tracks were laid because Elvis had a cold and could not sing.

1967 - Tennesee Governor Buford Elington declared "Elvis Presley Day."
