1861 - In Houston, the Eighth Texas Cavalry, a group of volunteers popularly known as Terry's Texas Rangers, were mustered into Confederate service.

1882 - The town of East Dallas was incorporated. It was Considered one of the most prestigious areas to live in the state. In 1889, the Texas legislature revoked the charter for East Dallas so it could become part of Dallas.

1961 - A metorite hit the ground near Bells, Grayson County.
