1945 - During World War II, U.S. President Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Josef Stalin began a conference at Yalta to outline plans for Germany's defeat.

2004 - A Japanese movie distributor canceled plans to display a watercolor by Adolf Hitler. The work was planned to be shown to promote a film, 2002's "Max", that was loosley based on the Nazi dictator's life. The distributor said that the painting could not be shipped in time for the movie's opening.
